Week 10

The first part of this week we learned about the use of social media.  Wikipedia defines social media marketing as programs that center on efferts to creation of content that attracts attention and encourages readers to share it with their social networks.  It is all about trust.  Corportations use these social networks to have users pass on their marketing messages from individual users that to others that consider them trust worthy.  Some of the more common social media networks include Blogs, YouTube, Linked In, Facebook and Twitter however there are several more that may be less well known.  One of the most helpful articles that we discussed this week was 16 Rules for Social Media Optimization Revisted.  Here are some useful tips that where shared for using social media:  1.  Increase your linkability.  2. Help your content to travel.  3.  Reward helpful and valueable resources.  4.  Participate.  5.  Know your target audience.  6.  Create Content.  7.  Be real.  8.  Develope a SMO Strategy.  9.  Make SMO part of your process and best practices.  There where some very creative ideas shared in our discussion some included setting up a video contest, using Pinterest to market products, using Facebook Advertising for Business and effective use of Twitter.  As I am using this blog a reference for myself after this class I am going to include some of the links and article we referenced in this module.
